About Merry Mixers!

For more than 60 years Merry Mixers have raised funds supporting North Shore Children’s Hospital, now MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center.
The Merry Mixers is a group of dedicated committee members working to support MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center in all aspects. The 2009 May Gala and the 2008 Fall Raffle Ticket sales raised over $44,000 for the hospital. Since 1989, the Merry Mixers have raised $657,000.  In addition to the large donations made each year, the Merry Mixers also delight the children in the hospital with gifts for the Holidays to lift spirits.

The Merry Mixers’ donations have resulted in purchases ranging from an Osolette machine, which controls temperature and humidity for premature babies, a new occupational therapy room for the hospital, as well as a piece of telemedicine equipment that allows for direct access into the operating room at MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center from Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as a much needed Colposcope Image Documentation System, which is used for documenting physical findings of children and adolescents who are undergoing examinations for suspected assault or abuse.

Many of our members and supporters have been touched in some way by the Hospital. One baby had to have a spinal tap and many tests, and MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center not only helped them through it but her baby is now a very healthy and beautiful little girl. Two other toddlers had to have stitches. One child on the cheek and the other child just above the forehead. Both children received wonderful care and had the best plastic surgeons.  Another toddler was in the Hospital for days due to pneumonia. The staff and doctors at the Hospital took great care with both the child and the family and had a wonderful experience thanks to the doctors and the staff at MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center.  These are just a few of the stories of why this dedicated group works so hard to raise money for this wonderful hospital. We feel that we are very fortunate to have such a wonderful facility on the North Shore.
